Oliver Hardy, whose first name was Norvell Hardy was born on January 18, 1892 in Harlem, Georgia. His father, Oliver Hardy was a Confederate veteran and his mother was Emily Norvell. The couple married in 1890. In 1891 they moved to Madison. Mr. Hardy died in less than a year after his son’s birth.
Norvell was a little difficult child and was sent to Georgia Military College. And when he became 13, he was sent to Young Harris College. Young Hardy was not interested in formal education, his interests belong to theater and music.
He became the comic actor and he named himself Oliver after his father. He played his first role in the film ‘’Outwitting Dad’’ in 1914. The era of silent films started with participating of Oliver Hardy. He had a heart problem during his last years. He died in 1957. The star of Oliver Hardy is situated on the street of Hollywood, the Vine street.
